Have you ever felt insignificant? I mean just sat back and looked around you at everything that was happening and realized that it really didn’t matter how loud that you screamed… you were drowned out by everything else.
Just think about it… who listens to the American people anymore? Not our government… unless it is going to get them face time in front of a camera. Plus, they are too busy having schoolyard arguments to give a shit what we think or say.
I’ll give an example… Texas had well over a quarter of a MILLION citizens sign a petition to have Texas secede from the nation. Was this ever truly addressed or covered? Was this given the time that it deserved? It wasn’t just Texas that these petitions popped up in, but everywhere… what was the final tally of Americans who signed those letters of rebellion? I considered that a nation screaming for attention and it got nothing from the government. Did the White House even address it?
The media isn’t worth the crap on the bottom of my shoe. What is being brought to attention in the media… what celeb married/ broke up with what celeb, Linsay Lohan got busted for drugs… AGAIN, or another white girl is missing. How often do you see something good… unless it is attached to something bad that has happened? To make it worse… the media is worthless in today’s world. It is nothing like it was 50 years ago when a reporter was proud of what they were, actually researched the story before going to print. Now it is all about getting the scoop… no matter if it is true or not. They can always correct things later. How many people heard that the kid killed his mother in the school at Newtown? *raises hand* Took a day for me to hear otherwise. Problem is… people still listen to the news like they give you facts. They are nothing more than tabloids now.
There you are… sitting at your computer… so much power in your hands, yet so unfocused. Your voice is heard very well on here… the number of people that use these boards are like the sand in your shoe coming home from the beach. There is so much potential…
I know what you’re thinking… “Well, Kink, you always say you have answers… go ahead… dazzle us.” Yes, I always try to have answer, or at the very least, ideas. There are a lot of little things you can do in today’s world, but they are all limited. You can make a YouTube channel and get a following. Problem is that it isn’t very interactive. You could do a blog that catches people’s eye and you develop a following from that. The funny thing is that the one idea is the one that I hate the most. The only way that the common man will ever be heard is for them to run for office. I have to go in depth on this one.
As much as I hate this one… since I despise politicians… it is the ONLY way the common man will ever be heard… short of doing something to get themselves “15 minutes of fame”. I would hope that a common man that ran on a simple platform of telling the truth would be able to win an office from any mud-slinging , crapweasel politician out there. The more that I thought about this and the thought about if a common man would be able to stay unspoiled within all that corruption, the thought suddenly hit me. Would the American people recognize the truth if it punched them in the face? Would they want to hear it? Would they vote for the crapweasel because he said what they wanted to hear? Would they be able to see past the lies that would be laid on the common man to make him look crazy/ dirty?
The more that I thought about it… the more that I got depressed. I suppose that I’ve lost faith in the vast majority of my fellow Americans. It makes me want to scream. Huh… back to being a grain of sand again. Looking around at the other “sand”, I see that we are mostly screaming in frustration. Sitting back, I hope that someday the sand gets a little wind behind us and we can cause a “sandstorm” that makes some actual changes that will help us… for once. Until that day, I’ll just rejoin the ranks of the sand…
